By Carolyn Hill

When you want to cut down a tree with a thick stem, you will opt to use a saw as it is efficient for this. Sometimes, however, you may not have access to the saw at the time. In such circumstances you may choose to use the pruning pole saw to do the work.

In the article, you will be guided on how to effectively use the tool, while also ensuring you maintain your safety. Before you begin to operate the saw, ensure you read all the precautions and instructions. The major one being that the saw can only be used for cuts of up to fourteen feet.

Professionals attach ropes to the vines especially if they are thick and heavy. The ropes are to aid the descent of the tree to avoid injuries. The thicker a tree is, the more the work for the professionals in bringing it down. On your own, you may not be able to use the ropes thus the tree will fall on its own. You thus need to be extra cautious. It is also advisable not to prune near power lines. One should also note that to use a pole saw to work at eight feet height is tiresome due to the need of using extensions.

When working on an area to clear trees, you are required to make sure that the area is safe. People should not be allowed to come close to the area when the work is still in progress as they may be at risks of getting accidents. Clean up the area and move all the cut trees after the work is done.

Pruning is not done anyway; plans are made in advance. Initially, the branch to be removed, has some of its small branches cut off to reduce its weight before the final cut. Often the branch is cut horizontally. During the final cut, start from the top side of the branch. When you need to make a jump cut using the saw, cut the vines underside.

Another tip is positioning of the saw. Ensure that the saw is in a vertical position by use of both hands. You should pause to have control of the tools weight. After this step, you should readjust you saw to where you want to make a cut. During a jump cut, the weight of the saw can rest on the branches.

You should also consider your position when making a cut. Be in a position where it will be easy for you to control your weight. Also, ensure that you make the right adjustments on the pole so that it is the right length. In case the saw moves sideways, always ensure that you adjust it to the right position before you go on. Always be careful so that you avoid any accidents.

Finally, clear up the working space by collecting all the fallen branches and leaves. This is very important especially if another cut is to be made to avoid future injuries during the operation. If you have any doubts and issues, you want to be resolved it is better to consult an experts advice. By following the above, you are sure to carry out a successful pruning.
