Finding A Certified DBE Firm Partner Will Not Be Easy But Keep This In Mind

By Angela Snyder

Starting a business is an exhilarating experience filled with a set of challenges and victories like no other. On the other side of the coin, however, there need to be countless hours of hard work that need to be put in and often times the gap between the hours needed and the hours in a day are not enough. An ingenious way of getting around such a problem is to find a Certified DBE Firm business partner. But how does one go about doing such?

Picking someone for an executive role in a large corporation is easy. People in suit gather in a room with a long shiny table and they vote. There, done, finished. For the small business owner, however, the process could not be any more different. Finding a suitable candidate for a position of power is a hard one if there haven t been a person in mind to take over the role and even harder when the person ideally suited to the role was stolen by some big corporate company.

By finding an individual who shares the same goal or vision as the person looking, more time is spent on productivity rather than worrying whether or not the person that s been hired wants to help make the dream in mind a reality or sabotage all the hard work that has been put into the business up until that point. It might be a crude analysis of somebody relatively unknown but not all individuals have good intentions.

To weed out the individuals in the scenarios above it is paramount that a few of the following helpful tips are adhered to. The business acumen of any person in business should be enough to let them know to follow their gut. But people can t hire and fire people all willy-nilly based on their gut feelings and will need some concrete reasons for doing what they do. One way that a person in need of a business partner can make their task easier is by doing the following.

Remember to evaluate yourself as well. Perform a swot analysis on yourself and see where your strengths and weaknesses lie. This can prove to be handy when evaluating between two difficult but different candidates to choose from. Knowing where your deal breaker well aids in helping you choose the right person objectively and not because you are desperate.

Choosing someone is not as easy as closing one s eyes picking that one. First and foremost, trust needs to be established in order to welcome the amount of change that is often accompanied by the need for someone. It s often good to keep an open mind and not judge a book by its cover, so to speak.

Research is key. A person in need of an associate should t be wooed by the clinking of glasses and restrained laughter at even the dumbest of jokes. By collecting references, not only is research conducted but a deeper understanding of what this person is like to work with is obtained.

Relinquishing power won t be easy and at times, one might feel threatened by the new parties involved in any decision making process. What is important to remember/keep in mind is the end goal in sight at all times.
